Happy New Year… Or Is It?

Let’s be honest for a moment. January arrives with big promises, fresh diaries, and a suspicious amount of pressure to become a “new you” overnight. But outside? It’s still dark by tea time, the countryside is wrapped in frost, and most of us are essentially functioning like mildly ambitious hibernating mammals.

So is January really the start of a new year?

We’re not convinced.

The Case for January Being a Trial Run

In Wales, January feels less like a bold new beginning and more like a gentle pause. The trees are bare, the hills are quiet, and even nature seems to be saying, “Let’s just all take it easy for a bit.”

You’ve taken down the Christmas decorations (or shoved them into a cupboard with the intention of dealing with them in March), the celebrations are over, and the sensible shoes are back on. This isn’t the season of rebirth — it’s the season of hot drinks, thick socks, and pretending you didn’t eat that many mince pies.

And honestly? That’s perfectly fine.

Winter Is for Cosy Comfort (We’re Big Fans of That)

While the world debates when the new year really begins, our log cabins in Wales are doing what they do best: waiting patiently, warm and welcoming, ready to be filled with guests who understand the true spirit of January.

Think crackling fires, snug interiors, peaceful views, and absolutely no requirement to rush anywhere. Just you, the quiet of the countryside, and the freedom to start your year gently — wrapped in a blanket, preferably with a mug in hand.

Whether you’re escaping post-Christmas chaos, hiding from January motivation, or simply craving a change of scenery, a winter cabin break is the perfect way to ease into whatever “new year” means to you.

No Pressure, Just Fresh Air and Fresh Starts

A stay in one of our log cabins doesn’t demand big goals or dramatic life changes. It’s about simple pleasures:

  • Long walks followed by longer naps

  • Crisp winter air and star-filled skies

  • Warm cabins while the world stays frosty outside

If a fresh start means peace, comfort, and a little space to think — we’ve got that covered.

So… Happy New Year (Whenever You Decide It Is)

Whether you believe January counts, April makes more sense, or the real new year starts whenever you finally feel human again, we’re here for it.

For now, while winter still has its grip on the countryside, our cabins are ready and waiting — cosy, comfortable, and perfectly placed for a gentle beginning to the year.

Happy New Year… or at least, happy hibernation 🐻 We’ll see you when you’re ready.
